Leadership Through Service: Consider the Opportunity to Serve
CRASC believes in the power of leadership through service. That's why we are partnering with Division 14 of the Capital District Key Club. We hope that you will consider becoming a part of this great organization. Please read on to discover how you can contribute to this important organization:
What is Key Club?
Key Club is the largest and oldest program for high school students in the world, with over 250,000 members in over 5,000 clubs in 30 nations worldwide (No, we do not make keys). Formed in 1925 by members of Kiwanis International, an adult service organization, it was made up of the “key” boys in the high school, with their goal to serve the school in any way possible, and improve school spirit. Thus, “Key” Club was formed.
So what exactly does Key Club do?
Key Club has a two-fold purpose: perform community service acts while building leadership skills in the members. The club is student-led, from organizing the service projects to electing the club officers. We participate in a wide variety of service projects, ranging from cleaning up parks and beaches to organizing clothing and food drives within the school. What separates Key Club from similar high school programs is in the results: Key Club really does make a difference.
Key Club is an inclusive, not exclusive, club. Anyone who wants to join is welcome, and encouraged to join. It is a unique, diverse experience, with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and beliefs, all working together to make a difference. If this sounds like the club for you, get involved with your school’s club!
